Not because I wanted to - but because I had to. Alas, Malaysia lacks an online bookstore like Amazon.com or Half.com. And neither Barnes & Nobles nor Borders Books exists here. Everytime I walked into your store I was amazed at how you insist on wrapping every book in protective plastic foil. What are you so afraid for? Books are meant for browsing. And it annoyed me further that once when I did find a book I liked and sat on the floor to flip through it, your store manager walked up to me and rudely told me to get up and find a chair. I'm sorry, did my khakis soil your parque? And why can't I take a book into your coffee shop? Are you afraid I'll stain it? To be blunt - What age are you living in? Have'nt you heard of the concept of "trusting" customers? What kind of people do you think Malaysians are? So to my utter delight - I'm happy to say that I finally visited to the new Borders in Kuala Lumpur. Not only is it bigger than your store - but they DO NOT wrap a SINGLE book in protective plastic. Their staff was helpful, and even allowed me to pick up 10 books, take them to the in-store coffee shop and sit down and browse through them while I sipped my Hot Chocolate. Wow. How novel! Now here's a company that treats its customers with respect. Guess What? I did not spill any coffee on any books nor stain any pages. I even bought a book and you can bet I'll be going back for more. It was nice knowing you Kinokuniya. Unless you shape up, you're bound to die a pitiful death. I'd love to help though. If you'd like to join me for a cup of coffee at Borders, I'll be happy to show you how a proper bookstore should be run.|W|P|111746992108617676|W|P|Goodbye Kinokuniya|W|P|email@vishen.com6/20/2005 06:44:27 AM|W|P|Nacho|W|P|HILARIOUS! :)

PLUS in Borders:
1. staff members smile at you
2. even though it is slightly more expensive people are happier (may this demonstrate people not always go for CHEAP but also for GOOD)
4. they have books KINOKUNIYA
Finally, and most imimportant:
5. BORDERS is way easier to pronounce
6. Easier to SMS to people because it is recognized by the predictive text of mobile phones!!

:)6/20/2005 09:38:56 PM|W|P|sakit|W|P|Alas, it's the sad habit of hypocondriac Japanese with stress-overkill on theft, free loitering, and stained pages.

Sorry if my country's bookstore has caused you strife.9/04/2005 04:20:33 AM|W|P|Tim Yang|W|P|Let me take you to the best bookstore in Malaysia. Skoob Books. Mike and I are both Internet junkies and for the past 5 years have watched in awe as entrpreneurs in Silicon Valley launched, grew, crashed, burned and jumpstarted the companies that now make the Internet the wonderful place it is. In the past 5 years, we have come up with hundreds of ideas but never had the money or engineering skills to implement them. So next week is a special day for us...MindValley is finally hiring a full time engineering team and our first wiz-kid engineer, Hannu, arrives from Finland to help us launch our new ideas. Stay tuned...|W|P|111746843327631975|W|P|Launching the MindValley Blog|W|P|email@vishen.com9/13/2006 06:54:33 PM|W|P|Anonymous|W|P|Good design!
