7/21/2005 07:54:00 PM|W|P|Vishen|W|P|We just got an incredible review about our latest product "Blinklist.com".
I'm thrilled and I just had to share it here...
Here's an Extract:
"The MindValley folks are clearly on the verge of something big with BlinkList. To be fair, it’s still in an early beta stage and will require some tweaks. Moreover, at this point, all of the social interchange is asynchronous. And while they are more than aware of the fight ahead of them, their infectious enthusiasm (in conjunction with their terrific product) is sure to propel them to the front of the pack. By now it should be clear that BlinkList is so feature rich (the “scary” part is that they’re just getting warmed up!), and full of possibilities they can’t all be discussed in one post...
...MindValley has created an impressive product with so many applications that learning communities--from grade school to corporate training—will be looking for ways to integrate BlinkList into their curriculum...
..For the last several months there’s been a lot of buzz about a renaissance on the web. And with the arrival of BlinkList, the optimistic, passionate team over at MindValley seems to be shouting, “Enough talk, let’s get this party started!” Game on." - Derek Baird
You hit the nail on the head Derek, we'll keep innovating and have tons of ideas in the pipeline and a great team. We aim to create new innovations in a host of traditional web applications from email to rss to blogging.
BlinkList is just the beginning.

I watched "What the Bleep do We Know" in New York last year. This documentary revolves around conversations and discussions by scientist, physicist, neurologist and spiritual teachers on the nature of consciousness and reality.
The documentary is in my opinion poorly made. But the message is important: Modern science is discovering that consciousness and reality are inextricably linked.
There is nothing religious about this documentary. In fact it might offend the highly religious. The Judeo-Christian-Islamic version of God seems obsolete and irrelevent in light of moderen scientific discoveries involving the nature of matter and the human mind.
Religion pushes the idea that God is a entity that created us and sits above us toying with our world and casting judgements on our behavior. The scientist and spiritual teachers in this movie suggest an alternative. That "God" is really the collective consciousness of life
How does this documentary threaten religious dogma?
Just one example - Religious people claim that only certain mystics and holy men possess the ability to heal. Modern science, particularly research on things such as the "placebo effect" show that this is a natural ability all humans possess. Labelled the "placebo effect" it is now being used by doctors to help patients heal themselves.
This is only the tip of the iceberg - scientist are making all sorts of new discoveries on how matter and consciousness are linked - and as they do, the division between the creator and created starts to blur. (see my recommended reading list at the bottom of this post for good books that catalogue these modern discoveries).
If God truly is within us all - then nothing takes us further from the concept of God than religious dogma. Religion is spirituality corrupted by man-made dogma.
It's time we learned to separate the two.

"Morality represents how we wish the world to be - Economics represents how the World actually works", says Steven D. Levitt, the brilliant young economist whose work are presented in this book.
I could not put this book down. I love questioning existing beliefs in morality, tradition, religion and other inherited ideas that people often accept without question. Levitt goes one step further and tears some of these beleifs apart through solid statistical analysis.
For example, he shows that the USA's declining crime rate in the 90's was not due to a soaring economy nor good policing. It was due to the legalization of abortion a generation earlier. Controversial? Both liberals and conservatists find the idea offensive. But Levitt casts aside religious and moral ideas and presents his case with the logic of a scientist and statitician. I respect that.
I'd love to Levitt tackle other subjects that may lead to significant social and moral change:
1. Do Islamic Laws actually promote vice rather than hinder it?
2. Does more crime take place in religious societies?
There is striking evidence for both the above, for example in Malaysia the state with the highest crime rate is the state run by the Islamic Party. At the same time liberal countries like Norway tend to be relatively crime and corruption free. Malaysia needs a brilliant mind like Levitt to provide statistical data that can help the government here make laws that work - rather than laws based on sketchy ideas of morality.|W|P|112049408512466888|W|P|A Rogue Economist Re-Examines the World|W|P|email@vishen.com7/07/2005 09:22:28 PM|W|P|sakit|W|P|Hmm...
